Santa Ana Continues to Struggle Offensively

SANTA ANA, CA – Despite snapping a hit-less streak, Santa Ana College (SAC) was unable to generate enough offense to overcome visiting Fullerton College (FCC). The Hornets defeated the Dons 8-1 behind a strong pitching performance by Jackie Cervantes.

SAC scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning when Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS) scored when Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) scored on an error. The Dons had three base runners in the first inning, all three reached on fielding errors by the Hornets.

FCC answered in the next inning, tying the game at 1-1 when Dominique Gonzalez doubled in Cervantes and Alicia Cano doubled in Gonzalez in the next at-bat to take the lead for good at 2-1.

Vivian Torres (Perris HS) snapped the Dons hitless streak with a single in the fourth inning. Prior to her hit, the Dons had gone over 10 innings without a hit. However, they managed only two more hits after that in the loss.
