Santa Ana Falls Victim to No-Hitter against Cypress
SANTA ANA, CA – For the second time this season, the Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team has been on the losing end of a no-hitter. This time the Dons lost 1-0 to visiting Cypress College in an Orange Empire Conference softball game.
Cypress scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning when Brooke Pefley reached base after getting hit by a pitch. She was replaced by Andrea Toledo who went on to steal second and third base and later scored when Nicole Palmer grounded out to second base.
Mallory Marquez suffered the loss for the Dons after pitching five and two thirds innings and allowing only three hits. Alyssa Gutierrez pitched the complete game for Cypress allowing no hits and only three base runners.
