SAC Loses Pitchers Duel 1-0 in the Seventh Inning
SANTA ANA, CA – Ashly Perdue (La Mirada HS) pitched a complete game while allowing only two hits, but a throwing error in the top of the seventh inning cost Santa Ana College (SAC) as they lost to Golden West College (GWC) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) softball game.
SAC wasn't able to generate any offense to back up its pitcher as the Dons only two hits came back-to-back in the fourth inning, but a spectacular diving catch by Diane Malinick kept the Dons from scoring.
Cara Martino scored the games only run in the top of the inning when a throwing error allowed her to score from second base on what would have been the final out of the inning.
The loss drops the Dons to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in OEC play. GWC improves to 10-8 with a 5-2 mark in conference play.
