Dons Unable to Muster Offense against Riverside
SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) managed only two hits and left one on base in a 2-0 loss to visiting Riverside College in an Orange Empire Conference softball game.
Riverside scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the third inning when Valerie Brown reached on a bunt and later scored when Leesa Galvan hit a single up the middle of the infield.
Vanessa Hardway was the first Dons' batter to reach base when she singled to the left side of the infield but was later caught stealing. The Dons second hit came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Heather Hamilton (Huntington Beach HS) singled to third base to lead off the inning.
Ashly Perdue (La Mirada HS) gave up six hits in six innings and allowed both runs as she got the loss dropping her season record to 4-3.
