SAC Wins Conference Opener Against Orange Coast
SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College 's (SAC) early success continued today with an 8-0 victory over Orange Coast College (OCC) in the first Orange Empire Conference softball game of the season.
The Dons' offense started early after Heather Hamilton (Edison HS) reached on a throwing error. She then stole second and third base before Mallory Marquez (Santa Ana HS) singled up the middle of the infield allowing Hamilton to score.
SAC extended its lead in the fourth inning Marquez picked up her second RBI in the game on a single that scored Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS). Marquez scored two batters later when Tiffany Campos (Corona del Mar HS) hit a two-run home run to put the Dons up 4-0. Cheyenne Ryan (El Modena HS) later scored on a passed ball.
The Dons forced the eight run rule in the fifth inning by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth with Quezada scoring the final run on a passed ball.
Marquez pitched all five innings for the Dons picking up the win. She allowed only one hit and struck out two batters to improve to 3-1 on the season.
