The Dons got three of their first four batters on base when Hamilton grounded out to second to score Tiffany Campos (Corona del Mar HS) to tie the game at 2-2. Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS) then doubled to center field scoring Loren Harrell (Tustin HS) and Vanessa Hardway (Edison HS) to give the Dons a 4-2 lead.

Ventura scored four runs in the next two innings to re-take the lead at 6-4 going in to the bottom of the fourth inning.
