Santa Ana Drops Season Finale To Fullerton, 5-1

SANTA ANA, CA - Fullerton College's Katie Shaw tossed a complete-game, six-hitter as the visiting Hornets (25-15, 13-5 OEC) downed Santa Ana College, 5-1, in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) finale for both teams.

Ramona Garcia, who was 2 for 3 at the plate, had two of the Dons' six hits in the loss. Brittany Heinle was 1 for 3 and scored Santa Ana's only run on Allisa Zoelle's RBI-single in the third.

Shaw (14-10), meanwhile, worked herself out of several jams to pick up the win. She struck out four and walked two.

The Hornets, who tied Saddleback College for second place in the OEC with the win, collected 13 hits and took advantage of four Santa Ana errors in scoring its five runs.

Cassie Haney and Nichole Lord were each 3 for 4 at the plate to lead the Hornets. Lauren Pettit also had two hits and scored a run from her leadoff position.

Santa Ana finishes the season 20-19 overall and tied Riverside College
(17-23, 8-10 OEC) for fourth place in the OEC.
