Wilt Strikes Out 10 In Dons' 6-1 Win
SANTA ANA, CA -
Melissa Wilt tossed a complete-game, seven-hitter as Santa Ana College (18-16, 6-9 OEC) snapped a five-game Orange Empire Conference losing streak with a 6-1 win over visiting Golden West College
(8-22, 4-10), Wednesday. The sophomore gave up just one run on seven hits while striking out a career-high 10 and walking four.
Santa Ana overcame an early 1-0 lead by scoring three runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth en route to its 6-1 win. The Dons used two hits, two walks and two hit batters to score its three runs in the third.
Courtney Zobac, who was 1 for 3 with 1 RBI, keyed the rally with an RBI-double to right. Charlene Sanchez, who was 2 for 2, and Nina Hernandez, who was 2 for 4, each had run-scoring hits for the Dons.
Golden West took an early 1-0 lead in the first on Jess Jusak's RBI-single to right. Jusak collected four of the Rustlers' seven hits going a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate, all singles.
