Softball Goes Down to Fullerton
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College softball team lost at home to Fullerton College 3-0, Wednesday afternoon. It was a pitching duel for most of the game, until the Hornets' rallied for three runs in the sixth inning off three hits and two Santa Ana errors.
The Dons' Melissa Wilt (2-2) started off the game pitching five strong innings and kept the game in a scoreless tie. In the fifth inning Santa Ana (6-8) had a scoring opportunity getting three of their five hits in the game, but a double play after the leadoff batter singled and a runner trying to advance to third base off a hit ended the threat.
In the sixth inning Fullerton (10-3) took a 1-0 lead and had two runners on when Kelsey Miller hit a two-run double to give the Hornets' a three-run lead. Fullerton 's Jessica Lampton (4-0) pitched a complete game shutout, giving up only five hits and striking out three batters.
