Marchegiano Plates Four In 11-2 Santa Ana Win
SANTA ANA, CA - Freshman second baseman Amanda Marchegiano went 2 for 2 with four RBI to lead Santa Ana College (6-6, 3-2) to an 11-2 win over visiting Orange Coast College (1-12, 0-5) in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) fastpitch softball action, Friday. Marchegiano doubled in two in the Dons' seven-run first inning, homered in the third and closed out the game's scoring with a RBI-sacrifice fly to center in the fourth.
Marchegiano was one of three Santa Ana players to collect two or more hits in the Dons' 13-hit attack. Charlene Sanchez was 3 for 3 while Nina Hernandez was 2 for 3. Melissa Wilt also had a two-run double for the Dons.
Kim Moore (1-0) picked up her first win of the season giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out two over five innings. She walked none.
Orange Coast , who scored single runs in the first and fifth inning, was led by Heather Walker who finished 2 for 3 at the plate and scored both Pirates' runs. Orange Coast starter Laura Van Moorleghem fell to 0-5 with the loss.
