SANTA ANA, CA - Expectations are running high for the Santa Ana College fastpitch softball team as it begins the season ranked eighth in the state. The Dons found themselves among the Top 10 when The JuCal Transfer/CCCSIA pre-season poll was released earlier today.

Santa Ana is coming off a 2004 season where it finished 28-10-1 overall and second in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a 14-4 mark. The Dons advanced to the second round of the Southern California Regionals before being eliminated by Palomar College, 2-1, in extra innings.

Defending state champion Sacramento City College begins the season ranked first in the initial JuCal Transfer/CCCSIA poll of 2005. Sacramento City, Mt. San Antonio College, state runner-up Cypress College, West Valley College and Palomar College make up the Top 5.
