Dons Finish 15th at State Championships in Fresno
WALNUT, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's cross country team finished in 15th place with 350 points and an overall team time of 110:28 at the 2007 California Community College Cross Country State Championships Saturday morning at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Sophomore Jersain Torres (Katella HS) led the Dons as he finished in 10th place overall out of 199 runners with a time of 20:43. Sophomore Corey Brown (Loara HS) finished second for SAC in 36th place with a time of 21:27. Sophomore Billy Mitchell (Tustin HS) finished in 80th place (22:12), freshman Sam Juliano (Tustin HS) finished in 106th place (22:53) and freshman Joe Perez (Valencia HS) crossed the finish line in 118th place (23:13) to round out the scoring for SAC.
Other finishers for the Dons included freshman Luis Orozco (Santa Ana HS) in 140th place (23:49) and freshman Martin Tellez (Tustin HS) in 141st place (23:51). The top-five individual finishers from each team are used to calculate the team score.
Daniel Gonia of San Diego Mesa College took home first place honors with a time of 19:59. The men's squad from San Bernardino Valley College took team honors with an overall time of 105:03. |
