SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's water polo team dropped a non-conference match to Concordia University 15-8 Wednesday afternoon at the SAC Pool.
The Eagles (14-8) led 3-2 after the first quarter and took a 7-4 lead into halftime. The Dons scored the first three goals of the third quarter to pull within 11-8, but Concordia went on a 4-0 run towards the end of the contest to complete the scoring.
Freshman David Ta (Temple City HS) led the SAC offense with three goals. Freshman Alejandro Aguilera (Saddleback HS) added two goals for the Dons, while sophomore Christian Colchado (Saddleback HS) and freshmen Paden Mitchell (Villa Park HS) and Peter Valdez (Century HS) each chipped in with one goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Mario Ruiz (Mater Dei HS) led the SAC defense with six saves. Jadi Pocekaj and Barrett Carlton combined for 10 saves in the win for Concordia. Luke Noll led the Eagles with three goals.
he Dons return to the pool on Oct. 12-13 to compete in the Cuesta Tournament. |
