Torres Leads the Dons in the Southern Cal Finals


BAKERSFIELD, CA
- The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's track and field team finished in 13 place with 26 points at the 2008 Southern California Regional Championships at Bakersfield College.

Sophomore Jersain Torres (Katella HS) scored 16 points to lead the Dons as he earned second place finishes in both the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter run. Torres ran to a time of 15:07.80 seconds in the 5,000 and finished with a time of 31:26.66 in the 10,000.

Freshman Ryan Gleason (Los Amigos HS) picked up six points for SAC with a third place mark of 162 feet, four inches in the hammer throw, while sophomore Alfonso Leon (Santa Ana HS) placed fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to earn four points with a time of 9:58.30.

All three SAC athletes qualified to compete in the State Championships on May 16-17 at Cerritos College.
