SAC Gets Several Strong Performances in OEC Relays
SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) opened the 2008 track and field season at the Orange Empire Conference Relays and the Dons won four events with several top finishers.
The distance medley team of Corey Brown, Irvin Malacara, Sam Juliano and Jersain Torres took first place with a time of 10:45.53. SAC also took 10th place in the distance medley with the team of Edgar Aguilar, Joe Perez, Martin Tellez and Juan Meja.
Ryan Gleason led four Dons in the hammer throw with a first place distance of 44.69 meters. Teammates Julio Carranco finished 8th (35.02), Paul VanSant finished 9th (34.49) and Ignacio Huitron finished 12th (33.18) in the hammer throw.
Gleason also had a strong performance in the discus throw, finishing third with a distance of 41.89 meters, and the shot put with a second place finish (42'4.5"). In the javelin throw, Huitron finished 12th (36.38) and VanSant finished 16th (33.36). Matthew Carter took first place in the high jump (6'10") and the long jump (23'3.75"). Darren Tom followed with a 20th place finish in the long jump (17'9").
