Guzman Wins OEC Championship in Hammer Throw
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's track & field team took fifth place overall with 49 points in the 2009 Orange Empire Conference Championships.
Luis Guzman was the Dons lone conference champion as he took first place in the hammer throw with a distance just under 160 feet. Guzman also took sixth place in the shot put.
Ryan Gleason turned in the next best performance for the Dons as he took second place in the shot put and third place in the hammer throw.
On the track, Lenny Santana finished fifth in the 1500M run and sixth in the 800M run while the 4x400 team of Jason McCalope, Thomas McDaniel, Santana and Kevin Vucinic came in seventh place.
Guzman, Gleason and Santana each qualified for the Southern California Finals with their top-six finishes. The SoCal Finals will be held at Mt. SAC on May 2nd and 9th.
Riverside College took the team championships ahead of host Orange Coast College that took second place with Saddleback College coming in third place.
