SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's soccer team defeated visiting Southwestern College 2-1 in the first round of the California Community College Soccer Playoffs.
Southwestern opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Edgar Valles found Abraham Rojas in the box for the goal.
The Dons tied the game in the 30th minute when Julian Cardenas scored on a free kick just outside of the box. Richard Rivera was fouled to set up the play.
Daniel Ruiz flicked a pass to Ezequiel Estrada who was streaking down the right side. Estrada fired off a quick shot that beat the Jaguars keeper for the game-winning goal.
Jorge Sanchez played the entire game for the Dons and made one save while allowing on goal. SAC will now face Santa Barbara College in the second round.
