SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College men's soccer team clinched its 16th consecutive Orange Empire Conference Championship with a 3-1 win over visiting Irvine Valley College.
Marco Ramirez put the Dons (12-4-4, 10-1-2) up 1-0 in the 14th minute when he scored on a penalty kick after Richard Rivera was fouled in the box. Adrian Negrete set up Cesar Silva in the 29th minute for the Dons second goal of the game.
The score remained 2-0 until in the 79th minute when Luis Miguel scored on a penalty kick for the Lasers (3-12-4, 1-9-3) to cut the Dons lead to 2-1. Just 54 seconds later, Silva connected with Gerzon Blanco who fired a shot over the Lasers keeper to put the Dons up 3-1.
Adrian Garcia played the entire game in goal for the Dons allowing one goal while making five saves in the win.
