SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's soccer team moved into a tie for first place with Cypress College in the Orange Empire Conference following its 5-1 win over visiting Golden West College.
Cypress moved up with the Dons as they defeated Irvine Valley College 1-0. The jump into first place for both teams was aided by Riverside College's 7-4 win over Orange Coast College.
Marco Ramirez scored the first two goals for the Dons in the 29th and 33rd minutes. Adrian Negrete and Richard Rivera assisted each goal respectively. Negrete added the third goal of the game in the 41st minute.
David Perez scored for Golden West (6-6-1, 3-3-1) in the 73rd minute to cut the Dons lead to 3-1. SAC answered back with a goal in 79th minute by Osvaldo Gonzalez from Ivan Moreno. Gerzon Blanco scored the final goal for the Dons on an assist by Daniel Ruiz.
Felipe Miranda played the first 73 minutes in goal for the Dons making three saves before being lifted following Golden West's lone goal and replaced by Adrian Garcia who turned away both shots he faced.
