SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's soccer team defeated Golden West College (GWC) 6-0 today in an Orange Empire Conference match. The win, coupled with a loss by Santiago Canyon College, moves the Dons (10-4-2, 5-1-1) into sole possession of first play. The loss drops the Rustlers to 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play.
Antonio Hernandez, Alex Moreno (Saddleback HS) and Francisco Fierro (Loara HS) each scored a goal for SAC in the first half of the game. Carlos Abarca (Century HS), Ruben Ortiz (Katella HS) and Jean Bello (Santa Ana HS) scored the three goals in the second half.
Ramon Quintana (Valencia HS), Rafael Garza (Anaheim HS), Miguel Palacios (El Modena HS) and Charlie Gutierrez (Santa Ana HS) each had an assist in the game.
Julian Hernandez (Bolsa Grande HS) started the game at goalkeeper and did not face a single shot. Enrique Romero (Los Amigos HS) played the final 50 minutes without facing a shot either.
