Santa Ana's Offense Erupts in Victory over Cypress

SANTA ANA , CA – Santa Ana College's (SAC) offense started off a little slow but exploded as the game went on to the tune of 9-2 against Orange Empire Conference foe Cypress College.

Cesar Nava (Tustin) got the ball into the goal first for the Dons on a long shot from the top of the box in the 22nd minute. He scored again in the 39th minute when Ramon Quintana (Valencia HS) passed the ball to him in front of the goal and he sent a laser-shot past the keeper.

Ignacio Cruz capped off the first half scoring when he scored on a free kick, giving SAC a 3-0 lead at half time. Cruz would later score in the second half as well.

Luis Guerra (Santiago HS) continued the offensive onslaught just five minutes into the second half when he stole the ball from a defender and scored, extending the lead to 4-0. Guerra scored a second goal in the 62nd minute to push the lead to 7-0.

The Dons were called for two fouls in the box setting up penalty kicks for Cypress who converted both of them, making the score 7-2. SAC scored two more goals in the final five minutes on goals by Quintana and Carlos Abarca (Century HS) to give the Dons a 9-2 victory, the largest offensive output of the season.

Julian Hernandez (Bolsa Grande HS) played the first half for the Dons at goal not allowing a single goal with Enrique Romero (Los Amigos HS) and Juan Martinez (Katella HS) splitting time in the second half.
