Jose Vasquez
Head Coach, 2nd year

Jose Vasquez begins his second season as the head coach of the Santa Ana College men’s soccer team after guiding the Dons to its second NSCAA/adidias National Title in his coaching debut. Santa Ana, which finished its season with a 19-0-4 overall record, was the only two-year college team in the country to conclude the season undefeated. The Dons won their 10th consecutive Orange Empire Conference title (OEC) and record sixth California Community Colleges state title with a 3-0 shutout over Cerritos College in the finals of the 2004 Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Men's Soccer Championship held on Sunday, December 5 at Oxnard College. During the post-season the Dons outscored their four opponents, 15-1, en route to their state and national title including three straight shutouts over Palomar College (6-0), Hartnell College (3-0) and Cerritos College (3-0).

Following the 2004 season, Vasquez was named the NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year for Junior College Division III Men's Soccer as well as the Junior College Division III Men's Soccer West Region Coach of the Year.

Prior to taking over the heading coaching duties following the retirement of legendary soccer coach J.P. Frutos in Fall 2003, Vasquez spent 11 seasons as a member of the coaching staff at Santa Ana College.

During that span, Santa Ana has won one national title, four state titles and a record 10 consecutive Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championships.

Vasquez played at Santa Ana in 1989-90 and set multiple scoring records. He still currently holds three records at Santa Ana College including fastest goal (10 seconds), hat tricks (4) and goals in a game (7).

After playing at Santa Ana, Vasquez played for a variety of professional soccer teams including: Club Guadalajara Chivas in 1991; Atlas, Rojinegros in 1992; L.A. Salsa in 1993-94; Pueblo, Camoteros in 1995; Celaya, Puebla in 1995; Anaheim Splash in 1995; Los Angeles Galaxy in 1996-99; Orange County Zodiac in 1997 and 1999; Orange County Waves in 2000.

Previous to coaching at Santa Ana College, Vasquez led Santa Ana High School to its first-ever CIF championship in 1991. He also coached Orange High School to a CIF championship in 1995.
