SAC Held to 24% Shooting in 64-43 Loss to Riverside

SANTA ANA, CA -
The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's basketball team lost to visiting Riverside College 64-43 in an Orange Empire Conference game. The loss drops the Dons to 12-15 overall and 2-8 in conference while Riverside improves to 24-6 overall and 8-2 in conference.

Riverside scored the first four points of the game but the Dons came right back with the next four points to tie the game at 4-4 and set the tempo for the first 10 minutes.

With the score tied at 18-18 with 9:30 left in the half, Riverside outscored SAC 9-2 to take a 27-20 lead with 5:30 left. The Tigers ended the half on a 16-7 run overall to take a 34-25 lead at the half.

Tyler Averill opened the second half with a three-pointer to cut the score to 34-28 but Riverside answered with a 14-0 run to take control of the game with a 48-28 lead. The Dons were unable to mount a comeback and fell by the final score of 64-43.

Averill led the Dons with 15 points followed by 12 points from D'Andre Denan.
