Dons Avenge Earlier Loss; Down Pirates In OT
COSTA MESA, CA - Santa Ana College evened its Orange Empire Conference record at 1-1 and avenged a 25-point loss to Orange Coast College earlier this year with its 75-72 overtime win in Peterson Gymnasium. The win snaps the Dons' five-game losing skid and improves their overall record to 5-8.

Terrence Hundley came off the bench and torched the Pirates to the tune of 21 points, hitting 5-of-8 from three-point range and 8-of-11 overall. Danny Cavic added 15 points and 8 rebounds while Darrell Jenkins tossed in 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Dons (5-8, 1-1) took their first lead just before halftime on a short jumper by Cavic and led for most of the second half. They then grabbed a 69-68 lead on Jenkins' jumper with 3:20 left to go in the extra period that would not be overcome by the Pirates.
Lance Ortiz led the Pirates with 19 points to go along with five steals while Reggie Brown added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Matt Davis chipped in with 12 points and 6 boards while Mykel Valentine took over down the stretch for an injured Alphonso James and tossed in 11 points.
In a game that featured seven ties and nine lead changes, the Dons found their biggest advantage inside, outscoring the Pirates 30-18 in the paint while getting 44 points from the bench.
