Skagit Valley Edges Santa Ana In SAC Holiday
Classic Opener; Jenkins Scores 14 In Loss
SANTA ANA, CA - Darrell Jenkins scored a team-high 14 points, but it wasn't enough as Skagit Valley College (WA) edged Santa Ana College,
56-53, in the first round of the Santa Ana College Holiday Classic that opened Monday (December 27). The Dons will face Rio Hondo College in a consolation game set for 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The Roadrunners suffered an 80-65 loss to Pasadena City College in their first-round game.

Jenkins, who scored 14 points in the loss, connected on 6-of-17 field goals and just 1-of-4 free throws to lead the Dons. Freshman Danny Cavic was also in double figures with 10 points.
Skagit Valley's Jeremy Brown scored a game-high 15 to help the Cardinals advance to Tuesday's semifinal game against Pasadena City College at 5 p.m. Josh Brown added 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for Skagit Valley.
Santa Ana struggled offensively shooting just 32 percent (21-of-65) from the field and 36 percent (5-of-14) from the free throw line. Despite the shooting woes, the Dons outscored the Cardinals, 31-27, in the second half.
Santa Ana outrebounded Skagit Valley, 44-38, and forced 18 turnovers.
Next: Santa Ana will face Rio Hondo College in a Santa Ana Collegge Holiday Classic consolation semifinal game at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
