Dons' Comeback Falls Short Against Desert

SANTA ANA, CA -
Santa Ana College (1-1) forced visiting College of the Desert (4-1) to commit 24 second-half turnovers but it wasn't enough as the Roadrunners escaped Cook Gymnasium with a 69-67 non-conference win, Friday.
T. Hundley
Santa Ana nearly overcame a 17-point halftime deficit, but cold shooting proved to be the Dons' downfall. Desert shot 62 percent from the field in the first half connecting on 18-of-29 from the field while Santa Ana made just 26 percent of its attempts (8-of-31).

The Dons cut the Roadrunners' lead to two, 69-67, with three seconds remaining as Brandt Bangs made both of his free throws. Desert was able to run out the clock as the Santa Ana wasn't able to prevent the entry pass.

Terrence Hundley had a team-high 16 points for the Dons followed by Darrell Jenkins with 13 and Andre Walters with 11. Walters also had a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.

Earl Issacson led the Roadrunners with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Lang and Chris Fleming also finished in double figures for Desert with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Next: Santa Ana will be on the road for the first time this season when it takes part in the Neil Edwards Tournament hosted by Citrus College, Friday, November 26-Sunday, November 28.
