Santa Ana Opens 2004-05 Season With 83-66 Win

SANTA ANA, CA -
Santa Ana College (1-0) opened its 2004-05 basketball campaign with a 83-66 win over visiting College of the Canyons (0-1), Thursday. The Dons had four players score in double figures led by sophomore center Nedim Pajevic who had a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds.

Darrell Jenkins finished with 12 points for the Dons while Terrence Hundley and Danny Cavic each added 10 a piece in the win.

Santa Ana raced to a 19-point, halftime lead by shooting 43 percent from the field in the first half including 7-of-17 from three-point range. The Dons also connected on 4-of-5 free throws in the period.

The Dons finished the game with 10 three-pointers including two each from Andre Walters, Darrell Jenkins, Danny Cavic and Brandt Bangs.

Santa Ana dominated the glass as it outrebounded the Cougars, 58-43.

College of the Canyons was led by Carlton Spencer, who had a game-high 27 points, and Andrew Morris who added 10 in the loss.
