Michael Hernandez Named to First Team All-OEC

SANTA ANA, CA -
Sophomore point guard Michael Hernandez helped turn around the Santa Ana College (SAC) men's basketball team and was rewarded by being selected to the First Team All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) team. Hernandez is joined by teammates Rod Harmon, James Silvie and Tyre Thompson who each received honorable mention.

Hernandez averaged 14.4 points per game with 7.9 rebounds per game for the Dons who finished 23-8 this season. He also averaged 4 assists per game. His numbers improved during conference play has he averaged 8.6 rebounds per game and 5.1 assists per game. He had 47 steals on the season, 26 coming during conference play.

Harmon was a consistent contributor for SAC this season has he averaged 8.3 ppg and 5.1 rpg. He shot 39% for three point shots and 73% from the free throw line. During OEC play his scoring improved to 9.6 ppg and 5.3 rpg. His percentage from three point range improved to 41% and 79% from the free throw line.

Silvie was the Dons second leading scorer as he averaged 14.9 ppg and 7 rpg. His numbers during OEC were nearly identical. He led the team in scoring and rebounding eight times during the season.

Thompson was the leading scorer for SAC this season with 16.4 ppg. His scoring improved in conference play up to 16.7 ppg while averaging two assists per game as well. He shot 72% from the free throw line for the season and averaged 3.2 rpg. Thompson scored a team high 29 points twice the season while leading the Dons in scoring in six times.
