Santa Ana Defeats San Diego Mesa in Home Opener
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's basketball team defeated visiting San Diego Mesa College (SDM) 83-80 in the Dons first home game of the season.
SDM held a 42-39 halftime lead but was unable to hold on as the Dons outscored the Olympians 44-38 in the second half. SAC overcame just 15-for-38 shooting from the free throw line to get the win.
Tyre Thompson (Centennial HS) led all scorers with 36 points. He made nine of 12 three point shots as the Dons hit 12 of 26 from distance. Jimez Williams (Fullerton Union HS) added 11 points and Raymont Jennings (Cabrillo HS) added another 10 for the only Dons in double digits.
Thompson and Williams led the team with six rebounds apiece as SAC was outrebounded 59-46 in the game, giving up 13 offensive rebounds.
