Fullerton Hands Santa Ana Sixth Straight Loss
SANTA ANA, CA - Corey McIntosh scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as visiting and top-ranked Fullerton College handed Santa Ana College its sixth straight loss with a 79-64 win in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) men's basketball action, Friday.
The Hornets (25-0, 5-0), overcame a 34-28 halftime deficit to remain unbeaten by shooting 56 percent from the field (19 of 34) in the second half and outscoring the Dons, 51-30. Fullerton had four players score in double figures led by Rodrick Johnson who scored a game-high 22 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Micheal Earl and Tim Denson added 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The Dons shot 48 percent from the field (11 of 23) and led by as many as 11 early in the second half, 41-30, on Terrence Hundley's jumper with 18:23 remain. Hundley led a trio of Santa Ana players who scored in double figures with 14. Sean Luecke and Chris Childress finished with 11 and 10 points respectively. Hundley also had a team-high eight rebounds while Luecke and Childress each grabbed seven caroms.
Following Hundley's jumper the Hornets used an 11-0 run to draw even with the Dons, 41-41, on Micheal Earl's jumper in the paint. Santa Ana regained the lead moments later on Childress' jumper, but that was short-lived as McIntosh gave the Hornets the lead for good on their next possesion when he made one of his two second-half three-pointers.
