Santa Ana Keeps San Diego Mesa Winless
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College men's basketball team used a 13-5 run over the final 4:08 to improve to 2-1 with a 76-68 win over visiting San Diego Mesa College in non-conference action, Tuesday.
Drew Terry scored a game-high 25 on 6 of 12 shooting including 5 of 9 from three-point range. He also connected on 8 of 11 free throws. Despite missing most of the first half with foul trouble, Terrence Hundley scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. He also had a game-high seven rebounds from his guard position.
San Diego Mesa, who fell to 0-5 with the loss, had three players score in double figures led by James Milt who had a team-high 17. Josh Lipscomb added 16 followed by Ivan Maxwell who chipped in 15.
After Milt hit the second of his two free throws with 4:08 remaining to tie the game at 63-63, Terry, who scored eight of his 25 points in the final minutes, gave the Dons the lead for good at 66-63 when he buried his fourth three-pointer of the game. Two possession later he hit is final three-pointer to make it a 69-63 game. With 56 seconds remaining, Terry would cap off the Dons' scoring with a pair of free throws that made the final 76-68.
