SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) freshman David Buehler has given a verbal commitment to play football at the University of Southern California (USC) and head coach Pete Carroll.
As a freshman, Buehler earned Mission Conference National Division first team honors serving as a linebacker, running back and kickoff specialist for the Dons. He finished 7 th on the team with 24 tackles and also added an interception. Buehler, who held a 3.6 GPA this year, also finished second on the team with five rushing touchdowns.
Known mostly for his ability on kickoffs, Buehler was tops in the Mission Conference with 25 touchbacks on 58 kickoffs. Buehler will enter USC as a kickoff specialist and may also get a shot at playing safety.
“David did what we asked of him on the football field and continued to excel,” said SAC head football coach Geoff Jones. Buehler also recently received offers from Arizona State and Oregon State .
“If I had 85 David Buehler's on the football team we would never lose, “said Jones. “I would just have to teach one of them to throw.” |
