Santa Ana Transfers 26 Players to Four-Year Schools

SANTA ANA, CA - In fall 2006, 26 student-athletes from the Santa Ana College (SAC) football program will transfer to continue their athletic and academic careers at four-year universities. All together, the scholarships received by the SAC football team members total nearly one million dollars and span the country from California to Ohio .

Included in the list of transfers are six wide receivers, highlighted by Finas Raab III (El Modena HS) who will get the opportunity to catch touchdowns in the Pac-10 Conference for Washington State University . David Buehler (Canyon HS) will also get the opportunity to play in the Pac-10 for the University of Southern California as a kicker and defensive back.

Daniel Morales (La Habra HS), who was a two-year starter at quarterback for the Dons, received a scholarship at Portland State University . Defensive back Nate Dedic (Valenica HS), who was named a 2005 Academic All-American, will continue his career at Northern Arizona University . Linebacker Myles Banford (Fountain Valley HS) will transfer to Youngstown State University in Ohio , wide receiver Mike Edwards (Irvine HS) will play football at the University of Avila in Missouri and wide receiver Cameron Clemons (Canyon HS) will play at the University of Tulsa .

Four Dons will be moving on to play at Minot State University in North Dakota , while four other former SAC football players will be playing just south at Dakota State University in Madison , South Dakota . Other destinations for scholarship recipients include Montana Western University (3), the University of Nevada , Reno (2), Humboldt State University (2), Azusa Pacific University , Sacramento State University , Troy State University and Malone College .

“The biggest goal of the Santa Ana College football program is to make our student-athletes marketable to four-year universities both athletically and academically,” said SAC head football coach Geoff Jones. “These kids have put themselves in a great position to succeed in football and in life.”
