Santa Ana Lands 13 on All-Mission Teams

LONG BEACH, CA - Santa Ana College placed 13 players on the Mission Conference National Division teams led by six Dons who earned first team honors. Those honored on the first team included specialist David Buehler (Fr., Canyon HS), safety Nate Dedic (So., Valencia HS), offensive lineman Ryan Formento (So., Villa Park HS), kicker Curtis Gladden (So., Pacifica HS), quarterback Daniel Morales (So., La Habra HS) and wide receiver Trent Sakioka (So., La Habra HS).

BuehlerBuehler was recognized by the league's coaches after serving as a linebacker, running back and the Dons' kickoff specialist. The freshman finished seventh on the team with 24 tackles and an interception; second on the team with five rushing touchdowns and tops in the league with 25 touchbacks on 58 kickoffs.

Dedic finished the year sixth on the Dons' defense with 27 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble while Formento started every game at guard.
Gladden
Gladden earned first team honors after leading the league with 73 points. He converted 10 of 17 field goals and 43 of 45 PATs on the year. Gladden set a new Santa Ana school record and tied a national community college mark when he made five field goals (25, 30, 38, 41, 50) in a 29-27 win over Golden West. He also served as the Dons punter where he finished with a 38.5 average including four punts over 60 yards.

Morales capped off his two year career at Santa Ana Moralesby setting six new school records and tying another. In the season finale at Cerritos he completed 26 of his 34 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns and in the process broke the career marks for passing attempts (546), completions (325), passing yards (4,241) and touchdown passes (40). Morales also set single-season records for pass completions (177) and passing yards (2,404) and tied another with 24 touchdown passes.

Sakioka, who earned second team all-league honors a year ago, was a first team selection this year after catching a team-high 42 passes for 518 yards (12.3 avg.) and one touchdown. For his career the former La Habra High School-product caught 76 passes for 877 yards (11.2 avg.) and a score. He was the lone Dons' player to be honored twice on the all-conference teams earning second team accolades as a punt returner.

Those earning second team all-Mission Conference National Division honors were defensive tackle Allen Autagavaia (Fr., Mater Dei HS), corner back Thomas Christian (So., Long Beach Polytechnic HS), defensive end Austin Collett (So., Villa Park HS), defensive end Kyle Lancaster (Fr., Redondo Union HS), offensive tackle Andrew McCabe (So., Mater Dei HS), wide receiver Finas Rabb (So., El Modena HS), punt returner Trent Sakioka (So., La Habra HS) and linebacker Donny Spreeman (So., Edison HS).
