Dons Blank East LA 6-0 in Hornet Hardball Classic

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team defeated visiting East Los Angeles College (ELAC) 6-0 in the first game of the Hornet Hardball Classic. The win improves the Dons to 18-7 while the Huskies fall to 15-8.

SAC's offense got rolling early in the second inning when Kyle Hardman (Mission Viejo HS) led the inning off with a single through the left-side. Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) later reached on a fielder's choice to give the Dons two base runners. In the next at-bat, James Davis (Garden Grove HS) gave SAC a 3-0 lead when he hit a three-run homerun to left-centerfield.

Derek Eligio (Esperanza HS) extended SAC's lead to 4-0 in the sixth inning when he scored Nate Bridges (Villa Park HS) on a single. The Dons' final two runs came in the seventh inning when Matt Allen (Orange HS) scored Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) and Jake Eccles (Temescal Canyon HS) with a double to centerfield.

Brandon Pinder (Centennial HS) earned the win for the Dons as he pitched seven shutout innings. Brad Wilson (Pacifica HS) pitched two innings to preserve the shutout.
