Sneddon Wins 800th in Santa Ana's 18-0 Shutout
FULLERTON, CA - Santa Ana College's Don Sneddon became just the second California community college baseball coach to win 800 games in a career when the top-ranked Dons (27-7-1, 14-4-1 OEC) beat 15th-ranked Fullerton College (20-14, 8-11 OEC), 18-0, in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action,Thursday. The Dons remain one game ahead of Orange Coast College (22-13-1, 13-5-1 OEC) who downed Golden West College , 8-4, earlier in the day.

The game was never in doubt after the fifth inning when the Dons scored 12 runs to take a 14-0 lead. Daniel Arizmendi (7-1) became Santa Ana 's first seven-game winner if the season tossing a complete-game, nine-hitter. The sophomore lefthander struck out seven and walked just two in his first complete game of the year.
The Dons had four players collect two or more hits in the team's 16-hit attack. Jose Chavez, who was 3 for 4 at the plate including a three-run home run in the fifth, was one of two Dons' to tally four RBI against the Hornets. Rick Taloa also drove in four runs with two hits in six at bats. C.J. Rice (2 for 4, 3 RBI) and Jacob Vasquez (2 for 5, 4 runs scored) also had two hits apiece for Santa Ana . Mike Forman was 1 for 3 with three RBI.
With the win Sneddon's career record now stands at 800-273-3. In his 24 years as a head coach, all at Santa Ana College , Sneddon has guiding the Dons to three state baseball titles and 10 OEC championships. He has also coached his teams to 30 or more wins in a season 17 times, 40 or more wins in a season five times with a school record 42 wins in 1995 when Santa Ana captured its second state title with a 42-9 mark. Only former Sacramento City College head baseball coach Jerry Weinstein (831-208-12) has enjoyed more success at the California community college level.
