Brian Peacock Signed with the Kansas City Royals

SANTA ANA, CA - After a stellar freshman season with the Dons, pitcher Brian Peacock was selected in the 31st round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Draft by the Kansas City Royals. After being picked with the 932nd pick, the south-paw signed with the Royals, foregoing his sophomore season with the Dons.

Joining Peacock in the draft was former Dons pitcher Brad Wilson who was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 33rd round out of Cal Poly Pomona. Wilson is currently 1-0 in five appearances with the South Bend Silver Hawks. Wilson played for the Dons in the 2006 and 2008 seasons before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona.

Peacock opened the season winning his first two decisions in four starts before moving into the bullpen. He worked his way back into the starting rotation to help make up the Dons trio of left-handed starters during conference play.

As the season went on Peacock became more dominant with his best game coming late in conference play against Fullerton College. Peacock helped shutout the Hornets as he pitched seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

His performance earned him Second-Team All-Orange Empire Conference honors. He dominated in his first start of the playoffs, pitching eight innings in the Dons 7-2 victory over Southwestern College that advanced SAC to the Super Regionals.

Peacock opened the Super Regionals with a 6-0 complete game victory over Long Beach City College. He also had a season-high 12 strikeouts in the win. He came back to finish the Super Regionals as he earned the save in the Dons 10-7 victory over Palomar College to send SAC to the State Finals.

Peacock finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and two saves in 93 innings pitched. The freshman tied for the team lead with 93 strikeouts to just 35 walks with a team-best 2.52 ERA. He also played a role in helping the pitching staff set a school record for most strikeouts with 422.
