Dons Bullpen No-Hits Oxnard in 3-1 Victory at Home

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) bullpen pitched six innings of no-hit baseball in the Dons 3-1 victory over visiting Oxnard College. The win improves the Dons to 11-3 while Oxnard falls to 3-6.

SAC took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Julian Duran reached on a walk and later stole second. He advanced to third when the attempt to throw him out at second sailed into centerfield. Two batters later, Derek Eligio singled through the left side allowing Duran to score.

Oxnard came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the second Zac McDonnel, who reached on a single, scored on a fielder's choice by Brad Grieve.

The Dons answered in the bottom half of the inning as Kyle Hardman scored when Cory Goodchild reached on a fielder's choice. Eligio doubled in Chris Miller for the Dons final run in the bottom of the third inning putting SAC up 3-1.

Branden Pinder started the game for the Dons and pitched three innings allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts. Nicholas Perez (2-2) came in relief of Pinder to earn the win as he pitched four innings without allowing a hit. He also had five strikeouts and two walks.

David Piraino pitched a perfect eighth and ninth inning to earn his first save of the season. Piraino struck out the side in the ninth inning to close out the game.
