Piazzisi Hits Three Home Runs in Dons 14-1 Win
SANTA ANA, CA - After leading the game off with an infield single, Marcus Piazzisi hit three-straight lead-off home runs in the second, third and fourth innings in the Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team's 14-1 win over visiting Los Angeles Valley College in the Casey Stengel Tournament.
The Dons (6-2) scored five runs in the first inning capped off by a two-run home run by Jake Eccles to start the game. Piazzisi's first home run was the only run of the second inning to put SAC up 6-0.
Piazzisi led-off the sixth with his second solo home run in the fourth after the Dons were retired in order in the third. Jacob Migliaccio followed Piazzisi with a double and Chris Miller reached on a single. James Davis drove both Migliaccio and Miller in with a two-out single later in the inning to put the Dons up 10-0.
Piazzisi's third home run came in his final at-bat in the fifth inning to put SAC up 11-0. The Dons final three runs came in the seventh inning. Cory Goodchild, who reached on a single, scored on a Derek Eligio single and Daniel Voorheis reached on an error allowing Eligio and Kyle Ammons to score.
Christian Meza pitched five shutout innings with three hits and three strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season. Daniel Fenwick struck out two with one hit in his two innings pitched followed by Brendan Hall who gave up one run on two hits in one inning pitched. Michael Steele pitched the ninth inning, allowing one hit with three strikeouts to end the game.
Piazzisi led the Dons finished four-for-four with three RBI and four runs scored. He now has five home runs on the season with 13 RBI while batting .556. Davis and Eccles each had three RBI while Eligio had two RBI.
