Dons Extend Win Streak to 9 Games with 17-4 Win
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team picked up its second win of the season against Golden West College (GWC) 17-4. The Dons (28-8, 13-1) have now won 10 straight conference games and wrap up their season series with the Rustlers (20-16, 5-9) on Thursday at GWC.
SAC trailed the Rustlers 1-0 going into the fourth inning and had managed only three hits in the first three innings. The Dons scored four runs on five hits in the fourth inning with Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS), James Davis (Garden Grove HS), Jake Eccles (Temescal Canyon HS) and Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) each getting an RBI.
Nate Bridges (Villa Park HS) had two RBIs in the Dons' five-run fifth inning. Hardman, Tarango and Eccles each had an RBI as SAC went up 9-1. The Dons scored twice more in the sixth inning aided by a throwing error.
Kyle Ammons (Huntington Beach HS) led the sixth inning off with a single followed by a double by Davis. Ammons scored on a passed ball and Matt Allen (Orange HS) singled in Davis. Casey Rihn (La Habra HS) then singled in Allen for SAC's 12th run. After Caleb Boyer (Temecula Valley HS) walked, Marcus Piazzisi (El Dorado HS) hit a three-run home run to right field to put the Dons up 17-4.
Brandon Pinder (Centennial HS) improved to 7-1 on the season as he pitched 7 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits with two strikeouts.
