Wilson Gives Dons Strong Performance in 7-2 Win

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team ended its conference series with Orange Coast College (OCC) with a 7-2 victory. The Dons (27-8, 12-1) now have a two-game lead over the Pirates (26-9-1, 10-3) for first place in the Orange Empire Conference.

SAC fell behind 2-0 in the first inning without allowing a single hit. Starting pitcher Brad Wilson (Pacifica HS) gave up two walks and hit a batter in the inning. Cory Olson stole second base allowing Ryan Sheeks to score. Olson later scored on a sacrifice fly for the Pirates.

The Dons tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning. James Davis (Garden Grove HS) led the inning off with single followed by another single by Jake Eccles (Temescal Canyon HS). Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) singled to load the bases and Casey Rihn (La Habra HS) was hit by a pitch, scoring Davis. Kyle Hardman (Mission Viejo HS) tied the game when he hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Eccles.

SAC took the lead in the fourth inning aided by a Pirates' throwing error. Davis doubled to left field allowing Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) to score from second. Leverson reached on an error and Davis scored on the play. Matt Allen capped the inning off with a RBI-single through the middle of the infield that scored Leverson, putting the Dons up for good 5-2.

SAC added a run in the fifth when Nate Bridges (Villa Park HS) reached on an error that allowed Derek Eligio (Esperanza HS) to score. The Dons final run came in the seventh inning when Rihn scored on a single by Bridges.

Wilson improved to 3-0 on the season as he pitched eight innings without allowing another run after the first inning. He scattered five hits with two strikeouts in his longest outing of the season.
