Janaury 29, 2008 - BOXSCORE
Santa Ana Wins on Rihn's Walk-off Grand Slam

SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) rallied from a 7-0 deficit to defeat Grossmont College 11-7 in ten innings on Casey Rihn's (La Habra HS) walk-off grand slam.

Grossmont (2-2) scored five runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to take the 7-0 lead over the Dons (1-0). SAC answered with its first run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 7-1.

The Dons scored two more runs in the sixth inning to pull within 7-3. The score remained 7-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning when the Dons rallied to tie the game at 7-7. Three of the four runs were unearned as Grossmont committed two errors in the inning.

Eric Cendejas (Corona HS) pitched a perfect tenth inning giving the Dons their opportunity to win in the bottom half of the inning. Derek Eligio (Esperanza HS) led the inning off with a single to right field. He later advanced to second base when Matt Allen (Orange HS) singled up the left side.

After a wild pitch advanced Eligio and Allen, Travis Leverson was intentionally walked to load the bases. Rihn then drove a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left-center for the game-winning grand slam home run.
