Fenwick Tarango & Sneddon Get Conference Honors

SANTA ANA, CA - After leading the Dons to their third conference championship in four years, Don Sneddon was named the Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year at the conference baseball meeting on Monday. Also receiving honors were Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) who was named Co-Player of the Year and Daniel Fenwick (Servite HS) who was named Co-Pitcher of the Year.

Tarango led the Dons with a .403 batting average on the season with a consecutive game hitting streak that reached 29 games. He was held hitless only five times in 44 games this season. Tarango also led the team in hits (71) and RBIs (48). Tarango's batting average jumped to .452 during conference play.

Fenwick pitched in 13 games this season finishing with a perfect record of 10-0 with a 2.63 ERA. He held his opponents to a .234 batting average while striking out 52 batters and walking only 12 in 78.2 innings pitched. Six of Fenwick's wins came during conference games with a 3.56 ERA while striking out 35 batters.

The first and second All-Conference teams were also announced with seven Dons being named to the two teams. Selected as a First-Team All-Conference player was relief pitcher Eric Cendejas (Corona HS), catcher Mario Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) and infielder Casey Rihn (La Habra HS).

Selected to the Second-Team All-Conference team was starting pitcher Matt Dufour (El Dorado HS), utility player Nick Tanos (Cypress HS) and outfielders Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) and Manny Caceres (Santa Ana Valley HS).

The Dons begin post-season play this Friday at Santa Ana College as the number one team in the Southern California Regional Playoffs after finishing the season with an overall record of 31-13. SAC finished the season as the Orange Empire Conference champions with a conference record of 18-6.
