Santa Ana Wins Third Game in as Many Days
SANTA ANA, CA -
Santa Ana College (SAC) capped off its third non-conference baseball game with an 11-2 victory over Citrus College in the Dons final game in the Hardball Classic.
SAC opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning. Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) led the inning off with a walk followed by Andy Navarrette (Mater Dei HS) being hit by a pitch. Mario Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) picked up the first RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Leverson. Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) reached on a fielder's choice allowing Navarrette to score and Tyler Hogan (Servite HS) ended the scoring with a three-run home run to put the Dons up 4-0.
Tarango scored the Dons next run in the third inning when Casey Rihn (La Habra HS) hit a double to right field and later scored on a single by Manny Caceres (Santa Ana Valley HS).
Ramirez hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to put the Dons up 7-0, before Citrus scored two runs in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 7-2. SAC added four more runs in the eighth inning with Tanos, Ramirez, Tarango and Voorheis each getting an RBI in the inning.
Matt Dufour pitched six scoreless innings for the Dons to pick up the win. He allowed four hits with five strikeouts to improve his record to 7-3.
