SAC's Offense Continues to Roll; Dons Win 11-4
SANTA ANA, CA -
For the fourth straight game, the Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team scored eight or more runs and improved to 3-0 in Orange Empire Conference play after an 11-4 victory over visiting Irvine Valley College (IVC).
IVC (9-10, 1-2) scored the games first run in the top of the first inning when Kurt Olsen reached on a fielder's error, allowing Evan Domanic to score. The Dons (12-7, 3-0) answered in the second inning when Manny Caceres (Santa Ana Valley HS) reached on a fielder's choice scoring Crispin Tarango. Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) singled in Daniel Voorheis (Cypress HS) in the next at bat to put SAC up 2-1.
After Nick Tanos (Cypress HS) tied the game at 3-3, IVC took the lead in the top of the fifth inning. SAC answered in the bottom half of the inning with a five run, six hit inning with Leverson getting two RBIs and Andy Navarrette (Mater Dei HS), Mario Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) and Casey Rihn (La Habra HS) each getting one RBI to put the Dons up 8-4.
SAC added another three runs in the eighth inning including a two-run double down the left field line by Stephen Gonzalez (Foothill HS). Daniel Fenwick (Servite HS) improved to 4-0 on the season as he went seven innings allowing four hits and four runs with five strikeouts.
