Santa Ana Wins Big Against Pasadena City 15-7
SANTA ANA, CA -
Santa Ana College (SAC) entered the bottom of the fifth inning with a one run lead before pulling away and defeating Pasadena City College (PCC) 15-7 in the Dons' final non-conference baseball game before starting Orange Empire Conference play.
PCC took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when lead-off hitter Jeremy Camacho scored on a Gabriel Chavez single to centerfield. The Dons tied the game when Mario Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Casey Rihn (La Habra HS) scored later in the inning on a Brandon Hay (Huntington Beach HS) single to give the Dons a 2-1 lead.
Ramirez hit another solo home run in the very next inning to put the Dons up 3-1. SAC added another three runs in the fourth inning on five hits. PCC scored four runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-5 and knock out starting pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek (El Modena HS).
The Dons answered in the bottom half of the inning by scoring three runs on four hits to pull away to a 9-5 lead. SAC added another six runs in the eighth inning with Caleb Boyer and Nick Tanos (Cypress HS) each getting two RBIs apiece.
Daniel Fenwick (Servite HS) improved his record to 3-0 as he pitched one and two thirds innings in relief without allowing a single run. The Dons bullpen 4 2/3 innings of relief allowing two runs and six hits.
