Santa Ana Scores 20 Runs in Victory over De Anza
SANTA ANA, CA - In their last two games the Santa Ana College (SAC) baseball team has outscored its opponents 32-0 to win two-straight games after losing the first three games of the season. A day after beating Western Nevada College 12-0, the Dons came out and easily defeated De Anza College (2-2) 20-0; the game was called due to time after seven innings.
Mike Bolsenbroek (El Modena HS) started the game by retiring the first three De Anza batters, striking out one. In the bottom half of the first inning the Dons' offense took over scoring five runs on just two hits. Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) had two RBIs in the inning when he singled through the middle of the infield.
After scoring another three runs in the third inning SAC sent 16 batters to the plate in the fourth inning. The Dons scored 11 runs in the inning. All nine starters scored in the inning for the Dons. Tarango hit a two-run home run in the inning and Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) hit a triple scoring two more runs.
Bolsenbroek picked up the win for the Dons pitching five innings and giving up only two hits, striking out six and walking one. Kyle Smart (Orange Lutheran HS) and Daniel Manos (Brea Olinda HS) combined the final two innings to preserve the shutout for the Dons.
