Santa Ana's Offense Comes Alive in 12-0 Shutout

SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) broke its three-game losing streak and picked up its first win Friday afternoon against visiting Western Nevada College as they easily won 12-0 . The 12 runs in the game are more then the Dons' offense generated all season (10 runs in the first three).

The offensive onslaught began in the second inning when the Dons sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs on six hits in the inning with Travis Leverson (Chaparral HS) highlighted the inning with a two-run triple.. SAC followed the second inning with another four runs in the third inning to open up a 10-0 lead.

SAC added the final two runs in the eighth inning when Brandon Hay (Huntington Beach HS) hit a two-run home run to left centerfield.

Matt Dufour (El Dorado HS) picked up his first win of the season as he pitched six scoreless innings and allowed only five hits. Brandon Mozely (Fresno State Univ.) pitched the final three innings to preserve the shutout and allowed only one hit.

Eight of the nine starters for SAC each got at least one hit. Hay led the team with four RBIs while Leverson knocked in another three.
