Santa Ana Falls to 0-3 on Season after 4-3 Loss
SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College fell behind early and wasn't able to complete a late-inning comeback as they lost to visiting Palomar College 4-3, dropping the Dons to 0-3 on the season.
Palomar opened up a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Ben Caple scored when Joey Fandel reached on an error and Fandel scored later in the inning on another error by the Dons. SAC committed three errors in the game.
Palomar extended its lead to 3-0 in the sixth inning on a Fandel solo home run. The Dons finally scored in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 3-1 Nick Tanos (Cypress HS) scored on a Crispin Tarango (Diamond Bar HS) groundout.
Manny Caceres (Santa Ana Valley HS) cut the lead to 4-2 when he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth after Palomar scored in the top half of the inning.
Tyler Hogan (Servite HS) brought the Dons within one in the ninth inning when he scored on a single by Brandon Hay (Huntington Beach HS). However, the Dons stranded Hay and fell short of a comeback as they lost to Palomar 4-3.
