SAC Turns School-Record Five Double Plays
In 13-4 Win Over Southwestern


SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) turned a school-record five double plays defensively as well as pounding out 17 hits in its 13-4 victory over Southwestern College (SWC) Thursday in non-conference baseball play.  Matt Allen (3-for-4) led the way for the Dons while Manny Caceres
(2-for-5) had three RBIs and Nick Mahin (2-for-3, 4 RBI) hit his third homerun in as many days.

The Jaguars jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over SAC in the second inning with a pair of runs in the first by Nick Monette (3-for-5) and Kiko Hermosillo (1-for-3).  SWC
(15-18) added the third run in the top of the second when Travis McLeary (0-for-2) reached on a fielder's choice scoring Mike Miles (1-for-2).

The Dons answered quickly in the bottom of the second with a lead-off single by Chauncey Fonner who later scored on a single by Wes Pascolla.  SAC (26-9) scored six runs in the second taking the lead for good when Kris Medlin singled in Caceres for the go-ahead run and Andy Navarrette for the eventual game-winner.

Mahin and Patrick Murray (1-for-4) hit back-to-back homeruns during a four-run sixth inning for the Dons.  Medlin and Brett Siegmund (2-for-3) both singled in the inning for the Dons.  The Jaguars picked up one more run in the top of the seventh when Hermosillo singled in Monette who reached on a double to center.

Kyle Smart (2-1) pitched 4 1/3 innings picking up the win in relief of starter Daniel Manos.  Smart scattered six hits walking one without allowing a single Jaguar run.  Manos pitched one inning giving up three runs on five hits while picking up a no-decision.

Brian Paukovits (0-4) suffered the loss for the Jaguars allowing six runs on five hits.  Jaguar relief pitchers gave up another twelve and seven runs to the Dons over the final seven innings.
